Why does it take so long?

 Why does it take so long to cook dinner?  Cause of cute little helpers like her.

 Why does it take so long to sweep and mop the floor?  Cause Mr. Man wants to play with the chairs.

Why does it take so long to handwash a couple dishes?  Because Miss Helper wants to be just like me.

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN

(a guide for Global Leadership)

All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.

These are the things I learned:

• Share everything.
• Play fair.
• Don't hit people.
• Put things back where you found them.
• Clean up your own mess.
• Don't take things that aren't yours.
• Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
• Wash your hands before you eat.
• Flush.
• Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
• Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
• Take a nap every afternoon.
• When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
• Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
• Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
• And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

Our wonderful friend and neighbor Kandy made Savannah and I matching slipper socks.  They are super duper cute and comfy and warm.  Notice my feet aren't that much bigger than Savannah's.  I am betting now that she will be a size 11 when she's all grown.  Poor girl. 

reality check

Savannah is 8.5 years old.  We have lived here for two years next week.  That is the longest she has lived at any one address in her whole life.

7. here-24 months.

Seriously.  That's alot. 

new and improved taco soup

1 pd ground pork, not sausage, just ground pork
2 packets Chi-chi's taco season, (it doesn't turn your taco meat orange)
1 can each- seasoned black beans (not drained), pinto beans (drained),  whole kernal corn (not drained) and a can of Mexican Diced tomatoes. NOT Rotel, just stewed tomatoes, with mexican...stuff?? in them. 
1 jar of Pace's extra mild salsa
1 T ground cumin

serve with tortilla chips, shredded cheese and sour cream.

yet another Hunter story

He came out of the bathroom naked this afternoon-

Mom- "Hunter, why are you naked?"

Hunter- "I wiped my butt with my shirt and then I wiped my hands on my pants." 

He couldn't reach the roll of toilet paper so he got all MacGyver and solved the problem with what he could reach.

Seriously, it doesn't get any grosser. or Funnier.

 Her new favorite thing to do is crinkle up her nose and furrow her eyebrows like this.  I have countless pics of her making this face.  It makes me laugh.

She was adament that she needed a bandaid, but couldn't decide where to put it.  This is where she settled on sticking it.  Silly girl.
