Basketball- Go Golden Ninjas

This is Austin playing at his basketball game last weekend. (See, I told you I would get it on here eventually!) He is really enjoying it and he knows where he is suppose and he knows technically what he is suppose to be doing while he is playing. He is one of those kids who hates it when someone steals the ball from him, so he dosen't steal it from anyone else because he knows how that feels. However, if the ball gets loose, he will go after it. He is having fun and that is the most important. Sorry if it is a little dark, the camara is small and the rec center is not well lit.

Notice the edit on the Yummy recipe

My sister called me and told me that she made the muffins and they were really dry. I noticed that I had only entered 1/4 c of milk in the recipe instead of 1 1/4 cup milk. OOPS! It makes a huge difference! Sorry Mina, try them again, I promise they are really good!

Yummy Breakfast Recipe

I went to an enrichment class this morning and they were teaching us how to make a months worth of breakfasts in one day and then freezing them. It was really interesting and I got some good recipes for Breakfast McMuffins and Breakfast burritos that you make ahead and freeze then you only have to nuke them and wala! But the recipe for the breakfast muffins I just have to share because they are really good, yummy and with a glass of milk and a yogurt or piece of fruit are totally filling.

Sausage or Ham muffins

1 1/4 cup milk
3T oil
1 egg
1 1/4 cup white flour
1/2 c whole wheat flour
1/2 c rolled oats
1/4 c sugar
1/2 t salt
2 t baking powder
1 1/2 grated cheese
1 1/2 bulk sausage (browned) or ham (diced)

Mix all ingredients except cheese and meat. When mixed, add cheese and meat. Spray muffin tins with Pam. Pour into tins and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Let cool completely, wrap in saran wrap and put in freezer bag and freeze. When you are ready to eat, nuke for 1 minute and enjoy.

These are a good hearty breakfast. It makes a dozen.

Austin turns 6

This is from his party. It was very fun. We had it at a local Rec Center. We played lots of games and had cake and presents. It was a good time and even better that I didn't have to clean my house. Austin is very worried that all his cousins and Nana and Grandpa's and Grandma won't recognize him now that he is six. He said," But they have never seen me when I was six!" I reassured him that he dosent look that much different, only more handsome.

Austinisms

I have shared this story with some of you, but I wanted to post it to share with all of you.

A friend of mine had a baby on Christmas Eve and I had her kids at my house while her in-laws were driving into town. As we were going about our business the oldest of her kids said, "Tessie, I know how the baby comes out of my mom, but what I want to know is how did it get there in the first place?" I tried really hard to keep from busting out laughing, then Austin chimed in and said, "It probably happens at night, all the good stuff happens at night. Santa comes, the tooth fairy takes your teeth and leaves money. I am sure it happens at night."

Little does he know, he was right!

Austin's Basketball Game

Of course I forgot to bring the camera!!!! I will bring it next week I promise. Austin did great though and we are very proud of him. He dosen't get that even though he didn't get a basket that he helped out by passing the ball and drippling it down the court. Only the points matter to him. It is fun watching him learn new things.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Today was Austin's first Parent Teacher Conferece and it was great. He scored 93% on his assessment test they gave him in November and is at the top of his class. His teacher said if he keeps going and we keep working over the summer with his reading and spelling he will be extremely ready for first grade. She had nothing but really wonderful things to say about him and I couldn't be prouder.

Just thought I would brag!

Welcome 2008!

Wow, if the rest of the year is as busy as the past week has been we are in trouble, deep trouble.

We have done some really fun stuff. We were able to go and see the movie The Waterhorse and we all loved it. It is a modern day version of Free Willy, except it is about the Loch Ness Monster. Really cool, I would recommend it.

We went bowling last Friday as a family and had fun, Ben and the kids did good, I got my usual one gutter ball per frame. Then we walked thru Costco and got pizza.

Basketball is keeping us really busy, but the guys are loving it. Austin's first game is this Saturday so I will get some pics posted.

Savannah is doing good. She is being very girlie with all her new makeup and jewelry and playing dress up and house alot.

I had a surprize visitor this weekend and her visit just made my month. I am happy she found time to fit me in.

Otherwise, we are just recovering from the Holidays and I am back to hitting the gym to work off some of this well earned 5 pds. We got some good news this Christmas, my sister is expecting a baby this summer. This will be her fourth and we are so excited.

Thats about it for now, I will post after B-ball on saturday.
